Azure is reading Dead Man’s Walk by Larry McMurtry.
I just finished Omnivore’s Dilemma by Michael Pollan.

Omnivore’s Dilemma should be required reading for all Americans.

Next book is Life on the Mississippi by Mark Twain.

I just got omnivore’s from the library…I’ve got 2 weeks off during my break to read it!

  2. Hi Mike and Azure!
I loved The Omnivore’s Dilemma. While I’m not yet (at all) vegetarian I aspire to become one. This book has really made me think about the items I choose to eat on a daily basis. For anyone who has not read it and doesn’t have time to right now I summarized the main points on I think you can go to and then click on my review of it.

I’m loving your blog and pics! Where are you going next December? I have 3 weeks off and I want to play!

  3. Jade! Yes! You’ll love it.

Mandy – He doesn’t exactly say you should go vegetarian, only that it makes philosophical sense (and what’s that worth, anyway?) if you can’t get your meat from a “grass” farmer…. After reading OD I’m definitely thinking more about what my food is made of… gas or grass?

OD was fabulous, I agree. I also recommend The Food Revolution, by John Robbins. Easier to get through, and presenting some nice facts about why eating plants makes sense, health-wise and environmentally. Also discusses genetically modified foods, organics, etc.
